Conyers named Offshore Law Firm of the Year at the China Business Law Journal Awards 2013

Conyers Dill & Pearman continues to be recognised for its industry-leading expertise in the Asian legal market, being named Offshore Law Firm of the Year at the 2013 China Business Law Awards. Presented in the February issue of the China Business Law Journal, the awards celebrate the key players in China’s legal services industry.

In addition to winning one of the publication’s most prestigious honours, Conyers also led the list of firms recommended in the Best Law Firms for Offshore Work category, with the Hong Kong office noted for its involvement in public takeover and hedge fund matters. Partners David Lamb (who also serves as Firm Co-Chair) and Piers Alexander were recommended for their expertise.

Conyers was also recognised for its work on the following high-profile matters:

  • Baidu’s acquisition of 91 Wireless – M&A Deals of the Year, Inbound and Domestic
  • China Vanke’s establishment of US$2 billion guaranteed medium term note program – Debt Deals of the Year
  • Sinopec’s US$3.5 billion notes offering – Debt Deals of the Year
  • Focus Media’s going-private from NASDAQ – Take Private Deals of the Year
  • Termbray Petro-king Oilfield Services’ Hong Kong IPO – Overseas Equity Deals of the Year

The China Business Law Awards are based on hundreds of nominations received from China-focused corporate counsel and legal professionals around the world. In determining the winners, the nominations were considered in combination with other factors, such as each firm’s landmark deals, cases and other notable achievements over the past year. China Business Law Journal consulted widely with law firm clients, conducting a number of interviews to ascertain the level of satisfaction with the services provided by each firm.

Conyers’ Hong Kong office continues to be at the forefront of the corporate finance and capital markets work in the region. The diverse nature of the deals noted above speaks to the depth and breadth of the Firm’s offshore legal capabilities.
