Conyers Dill & Pearman is pleased to announce the appointment of Derek Stenson as a Partner in the Cayman Islands Corporate practice. Derek has particular expertise in insurance, reinsurance and structured products. He brings with him a wealth of experience and in-depth knowledge in those areas, which complements and enhances the firm’s offering.
Commenting on the new addition, Kevin Butler, Partner & Head of the Cayman Islands Office, said, “We are delighted to welcome Derek to the firm. Derek originally trained and worked in the insurance and capital markets practice of a leading Irish law firm before moving to a leading offshore firm in Cayman, where he specialised in insurance, capital markets and general corporate and finance matters. His extensive experience includes advising a wide range of international financial and insurance institutions on all aspects of insurance and reinsurance law and regulation. He is also proficient in advising on insurance M&A and corporate finance transactions, repackagings, CLOs, portfolio transfers, restructurings, stock exchange listings, mergers, migrations, contractual negotiations and regulatory and compliance matters.
