The Cayman Islands Society of Human Resources Professionals (CISHRP) held its 7th Annual Top Employer Gala on 1 December, at the Marriott Beach Resort drawing HR teams from 20 companies across the island.
Conyers Dill & Pearman had reason to celebrate, winning not one but two prestigious awards. For the second consecutive year, they were presented with the Best Place To Work award in the large business category and also took first place in a new sub category CAHRE (CISHRP Awards for Human Resources Excellence), recognising HR excellence in learning and development, a nod to their summer internship programme.
The Top Employer Award is an initiative to determine the very best HR practice and is intended to make the Cayman Islands a better place to work. In order to qualify, companies must demonstrate key performance indicators including retention figures and an exemplary contribution to the community. They must create an environment that exemplifies respect, fairness and pride in the workforce and also offers companies the opportunity to identify trends and focus on areas to improve.

We understand the importance of creating an exemplary workplace for our team and have made significant strides forward in delivering this. We are, and will remain, committed to our corporate social responsibilities and supporting the local communities.”
Conyers is an active member in the Cayman community and in October, awarded two Caymanian students with the Legal Education Award, a joint scholarship of $25,000 towards legal training. They are headline sponsors of the interschool debate series, which offers students the opportunity to practise their power of persuasion and negotiation. The Firm has also supported Cayman Finance’s Student Education and Work Experience Program, since its inception, in tandem with their summer internship programme, detailed below, throughout the summer break. Conyers also avidly supports several charities, including the Central Caribbean Marine Institute, Cayman Islands Cancer Society and Cayman Islands Crisis Centre.
The CAHRE (CISHRP Award for HR Excellence) was created to provide a forum for companies of any size to promote best HR practise whilst demonstrating how powerful effective HR can be to a company’s success. In order to enter this category, companies undergo a formal assessment by independent experts from several industries.
Conyers received the Best Training Program Award recognising their summer internship programme which allows interns to work alongside partners, associates and trainees, where they participate on active deals and cases in the Corporate, Litigation and Private Client & Trust practise areas. This gives interns the opportunity to apply their academic skills in a real-world setting, whilst offering the opportunity to have real influence in a challenging and dynamic work environment.
