Conyers Dill & Pearman’s British Virgin Islands office has received Chambers and Partners’ highest endorsement, ranking in Band 1 in both the Corporate & Finance and Dispute Resolution categories in Chambers Global 2014. In addition, four of Conyers’ BVI-based lawyers – Robert Briant, Mark Forte, Richard Evans and Anton Goldstein – were lauded for their industry-leading expertise.
“We are delighted to be recognised as a top-tier firm in Chambers’ most recent BVI rankings,” said Robert Briant, Partner and Head of Conyers’ BVI office. “Our highly regarded Corporate and Litigation teams continue to advise on some of the largest and most complex matters involving BVI law, and these rankings are a reflection of the strong work we do across the board.”
Moving up the rankings in 2014, the BVI office’s Corporate & Finance team was recognised for “its involvement in a significant number of prominent BVI transactions,” including advising on the historic US$55 billion sale of TNK-BP to Rosneft. Top-ranked Robert Briant, who is noted as “one of the most prominent players in the market,” led this transaction, along with Anton Goldstein, who debuted in this year’s rankings table having “earned tremendous praise for his contribution to the success of the practice.”
The BVI office’s Litigation team once again received a top-tier ranking, with Chambers highlighting its “excellent reputation for handling some of the BVI’s largest and most complex disputes.” Practice head Mark Forte was endorsed for the sixth-consecutive year, noted for his involvement in “high-profile cross-border disputes and insolvency cases.” Joining him in Band 1 was Richard Evans, “a guy who can think outside of the legal box,” making Conyers the only BVI firm to have two top-ranked litigators.
“We now have two of the top three litigators in the jurisdiction, which is a great accomplishment,” said Mark Forte, Partner and Head of the BVI’s Litigation and Restructuring team. “Not only are these rankings a testament to the experience and expertise of our lawyers in the BVI, but they also speak to the quality of the clients we serve and the lawyers we work alongside.”
In addition to its strong BVI rankings, Conyers was also recognised as a Band 1 firm in the Global-wide Offshore category, reinforcing its place amongst the top offshore firms worldwide.
