Conyers’ BVI Litigation & Restructuring Practice Grows with New Hire

September 2015 Mark J. Forte

Conyers Dill & Pearman’s Litigation & Restructuring practice has experienced significant growth over the last couple of years and has expanded the team to meet increased demand by hiring associate, Luke Petith. The team now has eight advocates both practising and based in the region, further solidifying its position as the most seasoned and comprehensive litigation practice of any offshore firm on the island.

Luke joins Conyers from the London office of Addleshaw Goddard, where he was a solicitor that focused on commercial dispute resolution, as well as regulatory and enforcement law. Luke was admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales and graduated with distinction from BPP Law School.

“The growth our practice has experienced is tremendous, and speaks directly to client demands for sophisticated litigation expertise actually based here in the BVI.” said Mark Forte, Head of the BVI Litigation & Restructuring practice. “We welcome Luke to the team.” Forte continued. “Through his training and experience he brings strong technical skills to the areas of our expertise incommercial litigation”.

Luke will advise on commercial and civil litigation including, shareholders disputes, fraud and asset tracing claims, insolvency and urgent interim relief matters. “Conyers is an award winning globally recognised firm,” said Petith “I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such high calibre lawyers in the BVI”.

For the last six years the BVI office has earned Band 1 and Tier 1 rankings from leading directories Chambers Global and Legal 500 respectively. The team is noted as being ‘absolutely first class; it pays great attention to detail while applying a commercial overview’ – Legal 500. More recently, Mark Forte was appointed to the inaugural Board of the BVI International Arbitration Centre. The BVI is focused on developing the arbitration sector through the Centre and has noted its pleasure to welcome Mark to the board, who it says brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in this area.
