On 9 January 2018, Mobius concluded its token pre-sale selling US$35 million (US$10 million more than projected) worth of its MOBI token in the largest token pre-sale of Q4 2017 and Q1 2018. The public token sale took place nine days later on 18 January 2018 and was scheduled to close on 18 February 2018, but sold out in just over two hours.

The MOBI token sale was the first major token sale built on and supported by Stellar.
