Congratulations to our Corporate, Insurance, Dispute Resolution and Private Client & Trust teams on their Chambers & Partners Recognition

Chambers & Partners released their Global rankings for 2017 and Conyers has been listed as top-tier across several categories.

2016 remained an active year for the Firm globally. We advised on several innovative deals and high-profile cases. With this year’s rankings we continue to have more ranked lawyers in our jurisdictions than any other law firm.

Narinder Hargun, Director and Co-Chairman, Bermuda office said: “Conyers has a talented group of lawyers. Our rankings confirm our position as a leading international law firm”.

“We are honoured by these rankings and are proud of the accomplishments of our lawyers across the Firm”, added David Lamb, Partner and Co-Chairman, Hong Kong office.

Our results were underlined by the positive developments that continue to position Bermuda as a leading jurisdiction.

  • Capital markets. The market capitalization of Bermuda companies listed on the principal US stock exchanges is approaching US$250 billion. Conyers dominates the Bermuda public companies space, for example acting as issuer’s counsel on all Bermuda company IPOs on the NYSE.
  • Bermuda has a long history and enviable track record as a pre-eminent jurisdiction that continues to attract the world’s best blue-chip companies and we have assisted a wide range of such companies with their redomiciliations to Bermuda.
  • Insurance & Reinsurance. Our team helped the jurisdiction achieve a record number of new ILS listings on the BSX and advised on all of the Class 4 insurance companies launched in 2016 (raising over US$1.2 billion in capital).

Conyers continues to have the highest number of Band 1 lawyers of any law firm in Bermuda, as well as the highest total number of lawyers across each category, at 17.

Our Corporate and Finance practice continues to be the sole Band 1 firm in Bermuda. Further supporting the strengths of our Corporate practice is the Band 1 ranking held by David Cooke and Graham Collis, and our leading Insurance practice, which is also ranked Band 1.

In the Dispute Resolution category, we maintained our Band 1 position, and Co-Chairman & Global Head of Litigation, Narinder Hargun, was, again, the only lawyer listed as a Star Individual in Bermuda.

Alec Anderson continues to hold a Band 1 ranking in the Global-wide International Private Client category. Alec Anderson is the only offshore lawyer listed as Band 1 and Craig MacIntyre has also moved up into Band 2 in this category. This further demonstrates our leadership position in Bermuda and internationally.

"Few firms can come close to Conyers on one critical metric, and this is the breadth of the client base."
