Race, Law and History

Conyers is proud to sponsor The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities and Centre for Justice panel discussion entitled, "Race, Law and History". This panel will explore the intersection of these three lines of inquiry to provide a unique historical perspective on the Bermudian legal system. Issues to be explored include a historical overview of race-related legislation in Bermuda; 400 years of Bermuda Courts (1616-2016): constitution of the courts and its evolving mission; Race and the Human Rights Act 1981; The Enterprise case and the intersection of race with the women's suffrage movement.
