The Middle East has traditionally been viewed as a source, rather than a target of investment capital. Times have changed. Private equity is now an increasing source for business funding in the Middle East. Private equity funding to the Middle East has increased in the last four years due to a surge in oil prices, a local real estate boom, the growing sophistication of Middle Eastern investors and Western institutions seeking new emerging markets.
