Conyers advised Target on its US$1.83 billion acquisition of Zellers Inc., marking the discount retailer’s first ever expansion outside the US.

Target is the second-biggest discount retailer in the U.S. and plans to open 100 to 150 sites in Canada in 2013 and 2014. Zellers is a unit of Canadian department-store chain Hudson’s Bay Co.
