Conyers provided Bermuda law advice to Brazilian investment bank BTG Pactual in respect of its sale of a $1.6bn stake to a consortium of international investors including the sovereign wealth funds of China, Singapore and Abu Dhabi. The transaction, which closed on December 6, 2010, marks the biggest ever sovereign wealth fund commitment in Brazil. The consortium of investors also includes high profile private equity firm JC Flowers and the Lord Rothschild Fund.
Conyers' offices in Bermuda and São Paulo assisted BTG Pactual's in-house legal team and their U.S. and Brazilian external legal counsel in ensuring a successful completion of the transaction.
