Comparison of Partnerships

This memorandum has been prepared for the assistance of those who are considering the formation of an exempted (or international) limited partnership in an offshore jurisdiction such as Bermuda, the Cayman Islands (“Cayman”) or the British Virgin Islands (“B.V.I.”) for the conduct of business outside such jurisdiction. This memorandum touches on, but does not deal with, other types of partnerships that may be formed in any of the above jurisdictions. This memorandum does not deal with the laws and regulations which may be applicable to certain kinds of business activities. Certain procedures are summarised but they may require a number of intermediate steps. For the sake of convenience, certain abbreviations are used.
