Bermuda’s Aircraft Register: A World Leader

Bermuda has increasingly played an important role in the creation of aircraft asset holding entities using exempted company special purpose vehicles (SPVs) coupled with a purpose trust shareholder (SPV Structure) in export credit financings. The reasons for Bermuda’s popularity in the aircraft finance arena include: political and economic stability, recognised international financial transparency and information exchange, a respected and consistent judicial system, a favourable legislative framework and tax regime, the absence of exchange control and currency restrictions, and a respected private and commercial aircraft register.
