Richard Evans is a partner in the Litigation and Restructuring Department of Conyers Dill & Pearman in the British Virgin Islands. Richard joined Conyers in 2005 and became partner in 2010.

Richard’s practice includes all contentious aspects of commercial and insolvency law. Richard has acted in numerous leading commercial disputes within the jurisdiction, frequently in those giving rise to jurisdictional issues. He is experienced in obtaining, and securing the enforcement of, all forms of urgent interim relief, and works closely with international legal teams on emergency and cross border relief on a regular basis. Shareholders’ and connected disputes also feature regularly in Richard’s practice.

Richard has appeared in a number of the leading decisions in BVI concerning the interpretation and operation of the Insolvency Act 2003. He is equally at home in Court, acting as Counsel before the Commercial Court or the Court of Appeal of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, as he is in giving timely strategic advice. He has recently appeared as lead Counsel in a number of the leading decisions in the Commercial Court concerning disputed debt/distressed funds matters. In recent years, Richard has developed a strong appellate advocacy practice before the Court of Appeal.

Richard is the co-author of the BVI Chapter of "Creditors' Rights in Insolvency Proceedings - A Practical Guide for Smaller Practices" published by Insol (2011). He is also the co-author of the BVI Chapter of Cross-Border Judicial Cooperation in Offshore Litigation (The British Offshore World) (2009 - Wildy, Simmonds and Hill Publishing) and of the BVI Chapter of the Practical Law Restructuring and Insolvency Cross-Border Handbook. In addition, he has authored numerous articles related to his areas of specialist practice.
